I am not sure if this has always been the case, since most messages are short enough to pass through the outgoing box almost immediately. However, I have noticed recently, that when I write an email, it often says "2 of 2" or "2 of 3" in the progress bar, despite having only written and sent one message.
I use Gmail through Mail.app, is one of those 2 just a redundant copy mailed to my gmail account? or does it have something to do with the 'cloud'? I don't use MobileMe, but I think a few of the people I have been emailing do. Any ideas? |

I have the same problem... My email service is through "Tuffmail". Been wondering why it happens...

Okay. This is kind of spooky now. Because I just sent an email with an attachment. I watched the progress bar intently, and it said "1 of 1" and it steadily crept up until the attachment had been completed. THEN, after that, it quickly flashed another progress bar with another 1 of 1 header. Clearly, the only answer is that I have been hijacked by a bot network.

I don't think you have, mine does the 2 of 2 thing as well when I send an email, it also does it midway through writing emails, so I'm thinking its my Gmail IMAP making autosaves and stuff.

Mail now copies all your mail to Apple, so they can check you're being a good boy. You'll get used to it.

Over the last month or so I have been noticing problems where emails get 'stalled' in the outbox and then seem to go, mostly at home. I am using Cablevision Optonline for services, so not sure it is related to them.
Now that I got a job, I can buy more Apple products! |

I find on my machine that most of these outgoing messages are in fact drafts being automatically saved and sent to their relevant IMAP folders. Experience tells me that with a mail server or internet connection that's slow to respond, these messages soon get created quicker than they can be sent, which is usually the time I would notice them.
That's my £0.02 for the pot anyway. |
