Has any one else notice Safari constantly hanging since upgrade to Leopard? I used to have to force quit it once a week, not I am having to do this 5-10 times a day.
Now that I got a job, I can buy more Apple products! |

I've been using Safari as my primary browser since installing 10.5 (on 2007-10-31) and I've actually had zero hang-ups or crashes from it since.
Do you have any Input Manager plugins or other third-party modifications installed? The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. Brad, do you seriously never even crash when loading pdfs into the browser from a web page?

Not in the past month, at least. I deal with PDFs fairly regularly at my job (although certainly not daily) and I can't recall the last time one (or anything else for that matter) caused Safari to crash.
Maybe I'm just really lucky? The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. The only way to guarantee thoughtful, informative discussion is to write thoughtful, informative posts. I've hardly ever had Safari 3 crash either (under 10.5/10.5.1), even when it was beta (10.4.10).

I've had stalls for a few seconds here and there (seven according to the HangReporter folder), and a few crashes as well (five since the Leopard upgrade, according to the CrashReporter folder), but sadly, for browsers, that's hardly out of the ordinary.

No safari crashes here on Leopard. Maybe you should stop visiting crappy websites?

Safari 2 crashed on digg every time I clicked a story - very annoying.

I guess it goes to show that people have drastically different experiences with particular browsers. Quite interesting really. It's like we're all browsing a different internet. |

Yep, Safari has been exceptionally buggy for me since installing Leopard. I have to force quit it two to three times a day. No third party input managers or haxies at all. Mail has had a nasty penchant for blowing up and crashing too.
This third one I won't necessarily blame on Apple, but MS Office is poorly behaved as well spawning null threads from hell and those have nasty loops that make the CPU race, everything else slow down and the fans kick up to ear-splitting levels in about ten whole seconds. At least those are killable, but it's annoying. I have been hitting report often hoping that 10.5.2 will restore a little reliability to my tortured Leopard experience. |

I'm using the Safari 3 included in 10.4.11 and while it seems to load pages faster and is generally better than its predecessor for other reasons (longer history, cache doesn't grow to 750 MB, etc.), I have experienced more occasional, inexplicable crashes than I did in 10.4.10.

It's been fine for me, both in 10.4.11 and 10.5/10.5.1.

Fine for me too on 10.4.11.
Could it be that some sites are just coded not Safari friendly and conflicts causing the program to crash? |

Any suggestions, hardware test? I really haven't noticed and abnormal behaviors with the system outside of this. I can tell you the site I was visiting was the Fox networks website. and I was watching some Full TV episodes.

Just wondering whether anyone has the install file for 2.0. I have deleted it, and now I can't install 3.0b without it!

Safari 3 is only in beta for Windows users. For Mac OS X users, the final version of Safari 3.0 ships with 10.4.11 and 10.5.0. |

I have 10.4.11. I had Safari 3. I deleted Safari (don't ask) and then I tried to reinstall it. Safari 3 needs Safari 2 to install. So I tried reinstalling Safari 2.0 from the disks that came with my laptop. However, when I try to install 3.0b that I had, it says it can't install on this volume!

Installing a whole OS update just to get one browser back seems pretty ridiculous.

I am really starting to have problems with Safari in the past 24 hours. I noticed certain websites are constantly crashing it like Amazon.com and CompUSA.com on my Quad (G5) but not my MBP (Duo). So it has to be something specific with my Quad. Any suggestions. Can I just download it from Apple and copy it into Applications folder--will it over write? Or should I delete some of the preference files?
I am using 3.0.4 (5523.10). Now that I got a job, I can buy more Apple products! |
