I want to capture a streaming event by some musician friends that I can only view for part of. They said it would be ok with them if I wanted to record it on my 2019 iMac Mojave if I could find a way to do it. Is there a way to capture this event? I thought maybe VLC could but I can't find any instructions about how to do it (Maybe it's not possible).

I used to use a program called Mac VideoRipper Pro. The old website says that it is no longer for sale, but you may be able to find a site that still has a free or trial version.

Note: I am still on Mojave because there are some programs I have that cannot use a newer version (64 bit?), like my Flamenco Metronome, so maybe this is no longer sold because it uses 32 bit instructions.

Maybe this? I haven't downloaded it (Vidmore streaming video recorder), so don't know anything about it, but it looks like there are other free programs available using a search for streaming video recorders.

Hi! Assuming your not a bot with a quick reply coming back to reply for you, I would recommend Telestream's ScreenFlow. I've loved it's ability to record the screen though I don't know how it handles something like a YouTube stream that might have a copyright flag.

Of course, FREE is the best option.

I found a how-to at macmost.com called How To Record Your Mac Screen With Computer Audio. This is also posted on youtube. He uses iShowU Audio Capture and Quicktime. He says it's for Mojave but I did it on El Capitan. My test was to record a live network news show.
