opt. 1: 1699 for old PM 8x dvdr gforce 64mb 8gb ram max pci-x

Opt. 2: 1799 for new pm 16x dl dvdr ati 128mb 4gb max pci

will be using this primarily for Photoshop CS2 ,desktop publishing and my wife will be using it fof microsoft office, iLife web design since photoshop can't use more than 2gb of ram should I just get the newer one or will the older model be a better investment since it can handle more ram. Also I was wondering if the graphics card that comes with either machine can handle duel monitor support one CRT montor and one LCD Already considerd a Imac but i don't want to be stuck with a non upgradeable computer

I'd be inclined to get the older one, as it has the higher end mainboard, photoshop only uses 2gb now perhaps, but give it another version or two and it'll use more. Both machines should support dual monitors afaik.

I have what you're getting and bought my 2 gb of ram from Crucial. Works

Nice machine. I love it!

Makes my toes glow when I think that I have a working first gen 2Ghz Dual G5.

The spec of the original Dual G5 is one of the rare *good* reasons for adopting early.

Of course, it takes 5 seconds to fix the spelling error, and 20 seconds to point it out. hmmm.
