As of Friday, the Baby Bells--Verizon, Qwest--will no longer be required to lease network access to the likes of EarthLink and the tiny neighborhood company I get dsl service from. Supposedly, this will INCREASE broadband services.

Wanna bet I'll be paying more next month?

I dropped Earthlink DSL last month and switched to cable.

Never had any problems with cable internet here. I'd just switch to whatever's cheaper. If your local company raises prices, you can switch to cable... odds are your cable provider won't lock you into a contract like most DSL providers do. If you don't like it, you can just end it and go back to DSL.

I love my cable, however I wish my upload was a bit higher. 3mbps down, 33k up. $50/month, $40 if you already have cable, $30 if you own/buy a cable modem so you don't have to rent it.
