If you are using a Macbook pro with a 23" cinema display, does this almost require the larger video card option? If using with photoshop, same answer? Thanks in advance.

No, that shouldn't require a video card upgrade at all. There's no reason you can't run the 23", and the application you're running shouldn't have much of an effect, if any at all.

I really think the 2.0GHz model is a better choice, since it's only $500 more, but it comes with 512MB more RAM, a faster processor and 256MB graphics memory.

If you choose the 2.0GHz model, it already has 256MB graphics memory.

Thanks for your insight.

If I have already purchased a 512mb memory upgrade for the base model can I add that card to the open slot if the laptop has a different sized (1 gig) memory card on the other slot? Thanks!

All the MBP's come with dual link DVI that can push the 30" so don't worry about driving the 23".

So save some money and get some extra, third party, RAM instead that will improve performance more than a slight processor increase and some more VRAM.

Great, that is very helpful. Can you mix the sizes on the memory slots, i.e. 512mb and 1gig? Thanks!
