I got my new iMac this week and its been fantastic, transfered all my data via firewire and its just like using my old iMac but bigger

Only problem is that my external LaCie HD keeps spinning up every 15 minutes or so, its not had the auto/on/off switch moved since it was plugged into this computer from my old one and I don't have time machine switched on but for some reason the computer keeps accessing it, any ideas why and how I can stop it?

I'm using 10.5.2

Not really, OSX seems to do this every 15 minutes or so, just to check if the disk is still there. I wondered the same thing for a while with my drive, but this is not a new happening in 10.5.
