Ironically, I just wanted to keep using non-beta so my stats didn't get messed up.

Cool. Meantime, seems like when I first ran 5.02 I might've reformatted my support files somehow... and there are no suggestions immediately forthcoming so screw it. I went to 5.02 and replaced the old version. After a restart seems I didn't lose the 77% of (what I believe to be) WU 9, but I'm only going to get credit for 8 as it goes through I think.
Oh well, main thing is to help the cause. I'm going to submit a feature request of being able to close the damn "view protein" window once you're done with it. AFAICT the only way to get rid of it (and free up the processor cycles required to display it) is to quit the app. ...into the light of a dark black night. |

Do you really think that displaying the protein takes up that many cycles?
I never thaought of that as being very processor intenstive. I just minimize it. |

Well, if you're displaying stuff like the stick and ball models or the space filled, it constantly rotates and updates the protein, so I'm sure it takes up *some* horsepower. The main point being not that I don't like the window but that there's no reason to disable the Close Window widget; that way when you walk away from the computer the client gets 100% of the available cycles. I think mimimizing it wouldn't stop the machine from computing the protein updates, etc (so that when you maximize it it's showing the current progress state).

I see what you're saying and I agree.
I'm wondering when the Mac version will display the same info as the PC version and give you the same options: |

I'm almost there...
I killed off the work computer... it was too slow. (another 8 days until WU compleation) I switched it's job to something more usefull of such a slow computer. . . it's now the shop's jukebox. But I refuse to let my name not be on the list... so I setup a client on my home computer... and in only 12 hours I am about to finish my first WU. YaY! But that's not all... if all goes acording to plan, I will have a dual P3 1ghz folding at my work in a few weeks. It just needs some more ram and a good server case... I won't be in the top 5 of our team... but I still wish to help where I can. no sig, how's that for being a rebel! |

Heh.
Actually, I feel threatened by the seven processors that he has at his disposal. I'll be getting a dual 2.5Ghz G5 soon - that will definitely help me and the team, but I'm also thinking about building a dedicated folding box to free up my other machines. |

THank Gargoyle, he wrote the Mambo module and associated scripts to collect and display team data on the front end
and the letters are all black, I don't know how you can't see them. I run a 1600x1024 resolution on a 17" widescreen display and I can read them fine... without my glasses. It is with great regret that we say our farewells to Jack, who passed away on May 28th, 2005.
