I'm selling something on ebay right now. And I have Paypal required to buy it now. Now this guy either has just really bad english or is a scammer.

If you have a paypal account that you can empty immediately then close I might do it, if it's tied to your bank account I wouldn't even consider it.

Yah. bad news, I think.
I wish I felt otherwise, so I could say it was "too legit to quit." Alas. |

Recently a Chinese coworker of mine bought a Treo from eBay. Really great guy, but his Engrish is terribly poor. I can only imagine what the seller was thinking as he was corresponding with him. Right now, this coworker thinks that the seller is trying to cheat him (since he hasn't gotten the package yet, but it was shipped USPS into Chicago -- yikes!).
As if learning a language isn't tough enough... it's a shame that eBay scammers seem to always (pretend to?) have terrible English and correspondence skills. |

Most scams involve people having contact information in multiple countries.
Unless you can get the guy to send you a postal money order, run screaming the other way. Paypal is too risky. Cashier's checks are too easily forged. Personal checks are WAY too easily forged. Postal money orders are about the only totally-secure method of payment. Since he's the one with the terrible English and the multi-country dealings, he should be willing to sacrifice a little in order to ensure YOUR peace of mind. If he refuses to acquiesce, tell him to take a hike. You can find another buyer. |

If in doubt leave it out. There are loads of decent buyers on
ebay why take an unnecessary risk. |
