Hey i have a 2.33 ghz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with 2Gb of ram and i'm a little worried. Now i've fairly good with computers and I know how to do almost everything short of programing and terminal use. Anyway a couple times, (very infrequently) i have had this really weird crash where my computer absolutely freezes. I get no kernal panic, i get no spinning wheel. The only thing i can do is move my mouse around but it is like moving my mouse around on a frozen image. The 2 or 3 times (in about 2 months) that his has happened it has happened when i move my mouse to the dock because it has always frozen as my dock magnifies under my cursor and then it freezes. Restarting my computer gets everything working back to normal, but it is kind of freaking me out. Has anyone heard of anything like this before?
If you have any questions about what's on my computer I"m happy to answer them. I've run techtools deluxe with everything passing and i've repaired the disk permissions and it said everything was fine. Any suggestions? it happens really infrequently but it still scares the hell out of me. |

How long do you wait until you conclude that the freezing is permanent?

Are all menus frozen and does the force quit hot-key not work?

nothing works. i can move my mouse around and that is it. period. clicking anywhere does nothing, nothing on the keyboard works except the power button.
I've waited a rather long time probably 10-20 minutes |

And the mouse cursor never turns into a spinning beachball?

Can you post recent entries in console.log, system.log and panic.log right after this happens?

Qt? There aren't that many major Qt apps on the Mac. Mainly Parallels Desktop and Google Earth. Are either of those running when this happens?

does anyone know what's going on, I'd really like for this to not happen again

Well, assuming those entries in the log file have to do with your freezes, this is a bug in Qt that happens to affect you because you use the Cisco VPN client. Maybe you could look for a newer client version?
