Well the title pretty much says it all.

Whenever I try and send a file with iChat my DSL modem disconnects and kills my connection.

I've googled the hell out of this and spent hours at Earthlink's support pages, but I can't find out any info.

Anybody have any ideas?

DSl sucks?

I had Earthlnk, and I was having the same problem, but not with iChat..it may not be iChat.

Do you use an Airport? if so, you may have people on your line sucking your DSL.

If not, how big are the files, it may be how many files you send and how much bandwith it uses...there may be a limit you don't know about..if not go call earthlink, they have such nice people there...

Thanks for the tips, but at this point I'd rather give up iChat file transfers for a reliable connection. I had a cable modem from Time Warner, but god damn it sucked ass.

So far it is only iChat and only file transfers. I have no problems with other uploads, FTP, HTTP, WebDAV, ect nor do I have any problems with audio or video chats within iChat.

I am connected via a snow AirPort base station, but I have the same problem if I connect via ethernet directly to the DSL modem. Also, my base station is not broadcasting the name, I use encryption to protect it, and regularly monitor it's connections.

This is what is bugging the hell out of me. As soon as I hit return to send the file the DSL light goes out on the modem. I can receive files no problem.
