I was just wondering about this:

Could someone explain to me the Legal, Practical and/or Technical reasons that Adium/Fire/Trillian etc can integrate MSN, AIM, ICQ etc etc into one package, but micro$oft and Apple can't?

I'd love to know.

Thanks

Besides binding agreements that might have been made, I don't see why they can't.

Right. I believe it's more a matter of executive decision than legality.

FYI, Mac OS X 10.4's version of iChat integrates AIM, Bonjour (formerly Rendezvous), and Jabber together and guess what that means? You can chat with MSN folks via Jabber.
