Ok, so I'm sure that this type of thing has been posted before, but bear with me.

My old Canon clunked on me and now I am in the market for a mid-range digital camera.

Here are my restrictions:

4 to 6+ MP
fairly compact
3x or better optical zoom, but zoom isn't all that important to me
$350 or cheaper

I can look up stuff like this anywhere, but I am interested in your personal experience with a camera that you would recommend.

Thanks for helping me out!

I'd look at anything from Canon's line of cameras. I have a Powershot S50 that's great (I've since moved on to the Digital Rebel XT).

Try looking here.

You can't go wrong with Canons. Really good cameras for the money.

I've got a Sony DSC-W7 that I really like.
Basically a 7MP point and shoot with some limited manual controls. I've gotten quite good results with it and the battery life is amazing.

Fuji F10 or F11.

Probably the best images in a compact camera. It is fairly large, the outside edge of the compact range.

I'm getting the A610 for my birthday in F ebruary. My Pentax kicked the bucket a few weeks ago.

I've owned two of the Powershot Axxx series cameras, and I think they're fantastic. This sounds like a very good choice.
