I'm having a little trouble.. I used to be able to view all my images (.jpg, .pdf, etc) in Preview. Till one day, they started showing up in ColorSync Utility. I don't like this program and would like to make Preview my default.

I went in to the info of one of my files and changed the default to Preview (by clicking on the "change all" button), but now, even though my default program is Preview now, my icons don't show the little paper with the file extension on it. Instead it is just the paper with the folded right corner. It's bugging me so much!!


How do I make everything go back to normal??

Is Preview located in the default location in the /Applications folder?

Does Preview operate normally on its own? ie, Is the icon issue the only symptom of the problem?

Have you restarted lately?

Have you tried "Rebuilding the Launch Services" and "Clearing the Caches" from the FAQ: Check this thread *first* if you have problems or questions! thread?
