I like the perspective in that one. Had to figure out which way was downhill in it.

It was a tricky angle for sure. Where the water ends in that photo is another waterfall.

I also messed with the perspective by enlarging the mountains in the background. This is what it looks like with the perspective blend:

This one's from earlier this evening, up in Rocky Mountain. Got a bit nervous walking onto to the ice.

So this thread still lives, must have been 10 years...Its been a long time, but I am getting back into photography at the moment, just bought a Sony A7ii, and should be receiving a 20mm f1.8 in a few days. Until then, here is some pics from my kit lens.

Pictures from Cinnamon Beach, Mandal, Norway.
I will be very much into light painting and astrophotography, sunsets and sunrises. The reason for my purchase is that in the summer I am going to go on a cycletour from Kristiansand to Nordkapp, and want to document the journey with sunrises, sunsets and astro from the entire country. Then I will be up in the arctic circle for a while to get some snaps of the aurora...so I am practising my skills, or lack of them during this cold dark time.

Can you explain what you did for the night shot? Was it a long exposure with you walking the light around?

Btw, what editors are people using. I refuse subscription so I'm almost happy with affinity. Tried coral aftershot and paintshop but didn't like either much.

Basically yes, i have a very bright headtorch that i walked around with for 15 seconds on about iso100, but it's stacked with a 30 second exposure of the stars on iso 1600...iirc.

Here's another using same technique

After trying many other programs I went back to Lightroom/Photoshop. I don't like the fee, but no other programs have all the features, and most of them have almost full price updates that make them no cheaper per year to keep them up to date. I was using Nikon's own free software for a long time, since it has much better RAW conversion for my Nikon cameras D850 and Z6, but it is somewhat lacking feature wise compared to Lightroom. I still curse Apple for killing Aperture.

Finally got a reasonable milky with my new 20mm f1.8 and a very dark sky. Now I need to find a more open space and make this a panorama.

What is that vertical man-made thing? It looks like part of something old. I assume that it was used as an ersatz ladder, but it doesn't look like a travel ladder.

It's a log with some steps nailed into it to help hikers get above that fall and keep hiking up the canyon.

Nice composition in those. I like the last one though it is darker than the others. The reflections in the water are nice even the detail of the ripples.

Cool, I'm coming by the first time since ages and this thread still lives ...

Great shots here!

About a two years ago, I started to shoot people (OK, that sounds weird, I mean I take pictures of people).

I recently met a woman who is really deep in cosplay and costume creation:

The composition of the bottom on is awesome! The details of that costume are pretty amazing too, but I like the "stage" for that image. Well done.

Glad to see you posting here too! I haven't had a my DSLR out for a while now. Everything has been "shot on iPhone" that I almost feel dirty posting here.

I just got back from the Zion Narrows. Some of these were taken standing in the river with water up to my hips.
