I've lived in Florida my entire life. This weekend I'm going skiing in West Virginia and I'll be taking my MacBook, digital camera, and iPod along for the ride. The MacBook will stay in a sleeve under a blanket on the bus during the day so I'm not worried about it, though I am a little concerned for the other two.
Will below freezing/snowing conditions have adverse effects on my equipment? I have an underwater enclosure for my digital camera that says its ideal for snow as well, should I bring that along for the ride or will the temperature itself cause problems? What about the iPod? Thanks for bringing enlightenment to my southern existence. |

I dunno about the Macbook and digital camera, but when I go snowboarding, I take my iPod with me and have it in my coat pocket and its fine. I dont think youll have anything to worry about unless you plan on keeping out exposed for long periods of time.

I've taken my Canon P&S to -25C temps. The only problems I had was that the batteries wouldn't hold a decent charge and there was a little condensation when I got back to the hotel room. It's still going strong.
(note: I was too chicken to bring my DSLR because it's not weather sealed) |

My iPod (5.5G) does fine in my coat pocket in the cold. If it's in an hour pocket it might get a little fogged up, but other than that should be fine.
Warning: iPod batteries hate cold. Make sure it's fully charged. |

I take my iPod skiing all the time as well. Shouldn't be a problem, unless you somehow get snow inside of it.
