I like it.
The three circles...Jack Nicholson from "The Shining" ("heeeeeere's Johnny!"), "Dawn of the Dead" poster and what's the third? I know I'm going to feel like a goober for not getting it... |

Aww, I didn't get the second one. I thought it was Children of Corn...
Third one, I had that feeling I saw it before but can't put the finger on it... Am thinking Child's Play but I doubt it. Goes to show how illiterate I am when it comes to horrors flicks. |

Yeah, it's super familiar. I'm sure it'll be obvious...
It's illustrated (vs. photographic), so, to me, that points to a 70's/80's type of thing (all modern posters are usually Photoshop-based collages or type treatments). This looks like something from my childhood...perhaps the early 80's, in one of the thousands of "teens getting slashed" flicks that came out? But it could be the cover of a book for all I know, in which case I'm screwed because I don't read. |

And then there's the "o" in "nova". I thought it was Snoopy. Wasn't there some Peanuts strip involving the great Pumpkin king or monster or something. Best I could could come up with.

Holy crap...now I'm gonna be up all damn night trying to figure these two out...the "o" and the face in the circle on the right.
Great. Yeah, the "o" does look like like Snoopy's head. I thought it was a tree at first glance, but it wouldn't have leaves and look all full like that. It has to be dead and "branch-y". Is it Jar Jar Binks? Because he's pretty terrifying in his own kinda way. The circle on the right...that's one of those weird "experimenting on people" movies, I think. Something from the "body-snatcher" or "grim sci-fi" realm, I have a feeling. Looks like the person has an earring. I assume it's a guy, so that point to something (guys with earrings is more of an 80's/90's thing, vs 60's/70's). But if it's a woman, then nevermind. There's an "x" her their right cheek, but I don't think that's a scar on them but something written on the poster, part of the text? And then the white thing hanging down on their forehead between their eyes... If the other two are "The Shining" and "Dawn of the Dead", then this third one has to be equally iconic and representative of the genre. But it's not "Friday the 13th", I don't think. Dammit. Thanks for making me stay up all night, Brad, and wearing out my memory banks... Haha...I just got it! "A Nightmare on Elm Street". It's a girl. That white thing is Freddy's "claw". The "x" is her hair. I was typing in all kinds of 80's movies in Google images and it hit me that I hadn't entered the Elm Street stuff...and there it was! Do I get some cookies or something? A variety pack of Krackel, Mounds and Butterfinger bars? |

You guys are too quick. I'll have to create a new speedholes image tomorrow evening that's actually challenging.

Please do! I look forward to it.
I love stuff like that. And you realize how tough it is to identify things cropped in tight like that and with no context or additional help (the "Dawn of the Dead" poster wasn't my first guess, but it was my second; then I Googled to confirm)! It's fun to try and figure it out. |

I'm actually digging the earthtone/woodtone feel of this design.... would you think about making it a permanent option later on? You know, with more "standard" header stuff? Seriously. I really, really, really like it!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure the last one is Nicholas Cage in National Treasure 2. If that isn't a horror movie, I don't know what is

Great job, Brad!
Speaking of the Great Pumpkin, did any of you guys catch the skit Robot Chicken did spoofing it? If you haven't and you've sat through "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" (time and time again) you absolutely should check it out. I really love the tans and browns on this theme. I love almost all shades of brown, though. Keep it around as an option? (maybe without the halloweeen images at the top, just existing as a different set of colors?)
