Just saw a movie called "Closure" (released in the UK as "Straightheads").

Kind of a "Deliverance" meets "Straw Dogs", chased with "Death Wish" (and topped-off with Jodie Foster's "The Brave One") type of deal. Anderson plays a London(?) business type who has a fling with a 23-year-old security expert (lucky bastard). Anyway, they attend a party one night at the country estate of her employer. On the way home, driving through the isolated country road, they are attacked by some rough customers. They both survive and heal, and, by a weird, random meeting, she learns the identity of one of the attackers (and where he lives). It kinda turns into a fairly routine "revenge drama" from that point on. I've seen worse, but I've seen better as well...

But none of that is important because a) Gillian is slightly nekkid and fooling around, b) rocking a pair of snug jeans (and wearing out a sniper rifle) and c) she's got a really nice, clipped British accent working.

If you like your Scully a bit more vampish and ballsy, give it a rent. She's incredibly sexy and alluring throughout.

The movie is a 4-out-of-10, but she's a 12.7.

It's at Blockbuster (I was looking for "Straightheads" - the only title I've ever known it by - and it wasn't even showing up on Blockbuster's system). The young lady there tells me - after searching "Gillian Anderson" - that there is a recent release called "Closure" starring Anderson. I'm thinking it's another movie entirely, but I start reading the back of the DVD box and it hits me that it's the same type of plot. Knowing good and well she didn't make two "attacked in the English countryside on the way home from a swanky party" flicks in 2007, I got out my iPhone, went to IMDB and quickly confirmed that the title was changed for the U.S. DVD release. This was the movie I was looking for, after all...

Hey, there's my iPhone commercial!

I can't think those kind of thoughts about Gillian, as I know her mom and dad too well...and every time I see her on screen I think of Rosemary (they look quite a bit alike).

So it goes.

Ooh, sorry 709. Nice one, Capella...I know. We'll all live, and, at it's worst, it's not too bad. Look around here a bit...

I've just always dug her. I'm going to "de-smut" the thread, and remove the photos...

Oh, one more thing about the movie: it had great sound. That's not something I usually pick up on or notice, but there wasn't much music, and the use of sound (and silence) was really nice. Lots of empty space and stretches of background noise (a distant car engine, footsteps on a wood floor, the woods, etc.). But then there would sharp jolts of noice (cracking gunfire, dog barks, tires on a road, etc.). As I was watching it, that slowly dawned on me. Everything just sounded very natural and grounded. Probably one of only 3-4 movies I've ever noticed for that particular reason.

It's great to see that actresses in their late 30's and early 40's are still hot and sexy. I suppose they have to stay in shape to compete with the young up and comers. As long as they keep it somewhat classy and tasteful, then it works. If it's soft porn, they come out looking desperate.

BTW, I noticed on IMDB that there's an X-file sequel in the works.
On a somewhat related note, anyone catch Californication with Duchovny. It's awesome.

I've not seen it. But yeah, I heard about the "X Files" sequel. Good news. Should be fun to see!

And give me a Gillian, Jodie or Sigourney - any day - over a Lindsay or any other twenty-somethings.

X-Files sequel? And it's actually confirmed and not just some rumor? Awesome, I'd love to see that. Only if it has the real Mulder and Scully though; the seasons with the other people were awful

And aww, pscates, I hope you didn't de-smut it because of me- that "I'll be in my bunk" was meant in a good way. Gillian Anderson is seriously hot. I appreciated the images

It's CONFIRMINATED!!!

Yeah, it actually begins filming on December 10, and out for a July '08 release (quick, huh?). If there aren't huge stars and loads of CGI, a movie shouldn't take 14 months to film, edit, etc. I was always amazed that they cranked out such a high quality show (sometimes with some fairly elaborate FX, makeup and sets) on a weekly basis.

Because of that, I guess filming a movie in a quick, efficient manner is no big challenge for them?

But yes, it's Chris Carter, David and Gillian. A more "self-contained" type of plot, from what I'm reading (a more straight-ahead monster/thriller type of thing, as opposed to the kind of movie you have to know the entire backstory/history of the show and characters to enjoy).

Can't wait.

It's on IMDB: http://imdb.com/title/tt0443701

And, even better, on Gillian's official site. Scroll down to the October 31 entry...

'X Files' sequel headed to theaters

Los Angeles Times

The rumors were right! An "X Files" sequel is headed to theaters next summer, to be released July 25, 2008, Twentieth Century Fox announced today.

Stars of the cult series David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will co-star in the untitled project, directed by Chris Carter, who co-wrote the screenplay with Frank Spotnitz.

The plot is top secret for now.

The studio's news release said only that "the supernatural thriller is a stand-alone story in the tradition of some of the show's most acclaimed and beloved episodes, and takes the always-complicated relationship between Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) in unexpected directions."

The studio confirmed that shooting will begin in December in Vancouver. The announcement comes after rumors of a sequel hit the web on Monday.

The film's release will come 10 years after "The X Files" feature film, released in June 1998 and directed by Rob Bowman. Carter produced and co-wrote that film with Spotnitz.

The popular series ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002.
And from GA herself, a little higher up the page:

Quote:
"So you all know that the XF film is a go. Haven't even shot it and it'll be released before 'Boogie'. So weird. And before "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People". Even wierder. And in Vancouver which will be strange and wonderful."
Yay!

Bah, most pics of her are faked anyway. She's probably the single most faked nude celebrity out there, on account of all the nerds who fantasized about her sperm extraction services, then jumped on their copy of PS and got to the task of creating the most realistic Gillian they could.

Yeah, those pics are horrible and lame. But the legit ones of her - from magazines or promo shots - are great.

I like her earthy look and freckles, and the non-red, longer hair has even grown on me. She's just a pretty woman, with enough "something different" (chin, nose, etc.) to give her a unique look that appeals to me (and has now for about 13 or so years). And she does the "pouty, pissed-off look" like nobody's business. I find myself drawn to women who look like they might just up and beat the shit out of me if I tick them off or cross them (Mariska, Sigourney, Joan, etc.).

Not sure what that says about me, but I'm sure it's nothing good...

You know sometimes (and I emphasize... because other times she's scary as hell), Cate Blanchett has that look. Her eyes and angular features are just really uniquely attractive in some ways, when she takes care of herself. Also, she sometimes has the red highlight thing going on with her hair which I think is better than the aryan blonde thing. Other than the CGI ears she was pretty hot for an elf too I must say! Sadly, these days she's apparently gone all Amy Whinehouse anorexic which is very sad. I think she's got issues, as they say...

Get back to the glory days, Cate!
