I'm looking for a nice, small, free piece of script writing software. It doesn't need to do much, but maintain a character list and have easy formating. If you have any experience with such software, let me know what works. Thanks guys.

Montage looks really nice and is decked to the nines in Mac-style goodness, but it has a price tag of $140. The download has a free 30-day trial.
For free, there's Celtx. It has some cross-platform behavior quirks, but it has lots of features and you can't beat the price. The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. The only way to guarantee thoughtful, informative discussion is to write thoughtful, informative posts. AppleNova is not a real-time chat forum. You have time to compose messages and edit them before and after posting. |

Or, there's TextMate (€39) and the screenplay bundle.
