Is the server down? I haven't been able to connect all weekend.

It shouldn't be down.

What error are you getting?

Edit: Found the problem. Fixing it now. I was port forwarding to the wrong IP thanks to a typo.

Offending rule deleted and corrected one added. Please try again now...or tomorrow at work.

Looks like there is a I/O issue on the VM right now. MC keeps crashing. I'm trying to get a handle on it right now but it is being stubborn. This is due to the backups and archiving of those backups. My NAS is almost done with the rebuilding of the RAID and thus keeping IO really high. If you can't get in, please just try again shortly.

The RAID is done! All backups and map generation are up and running.

Networking issue. Try again, you should be able to get in again.

My new router dropped the connection for about three minutes for an unknown reason.

I was holding out doing this but I just rebooted the router. See if that holds for a while. I’ll have to put some real troubleshooting into it if this doesn’t hold.

Definitely ongoing issues. Might be on my end, might not, but I have not experienced lag like this in some time, and MC tells me I have a good connection.

To say I'm displeased right now would be an understatement. Sorry the connection is unstable, but it is really unstable right now. Trying to get it resolved.

It's not been a great week for me and my home network. The MC server is down at the moment due to forced host upgrades. I'll get it back again as soon as possible. The host did a hard reboot on it's own so I don't know if anything in the world got corrupted as a result. Please let me know if you notice something out of order when you get back in.

Host maintenance going on right now. If you try to get on and can't just give it a few more minutes. Should total less than 30 minutes this morning.

Server is acting super twitchy atm. Last one wiped my inventory and xp and reset me at spawn. Not a big deal since I wasn't carrying much of value, but scary.

So it goes.

Sorry. My machine is having issues and has to be rebooted. I have filed a support ticket with VMware over this because it's happened enough. Rebooting and hopefully it won't crash again in the near future.

If anyone is missing something and wants me to restore from 3PM's backup let me know. Hopefully this reboot will fix the issue and we will be fine from here.

I'm trying to get an SSL installed so we can view the maps (and all other sites I host) with HTTPS. Please let me know if you can view the maps remotely from https://mcmaps.applenova.com. I'm putting an Nginx reverse proxy in the way to handle the SSL, but I don't think the Google Maps API are playing well with it. I can force it back to Non-SSL if it doesn't play nice with Nginx.
Edit: I figured out I could test with Tor Browser and it doesn't work with https but does fine with https. Now I need to figure out how to make it work with https. Both options are enabled right now with caching disabled.

Also, I'm thinking of redirecting the mc.applenova.com to the mcmaps folder. Basically doing away with the current site you would see if you navigated to it in a browser rather than your Minecraft client. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

All of those are CNAMEs for anmc.dyndns.org. If you are unable to use one of the AN urls, check that one and see if it's working. Let me know I they aren't and I'll see about fixing them.

The router issue should be solved. At least, I really hope it is.

I can see maps just fine.

Doesn't look like they've been updated recently, but I can see them.

The switch to the new server has happened. So we are officially on 1.12.1 now. I'm still working on the backend changes that are required for backups and such to be able to continue as on the old server.

Part of the change is moving from CentOS 6 to 7. This means init.d gives way for systemctl and other technical stuff.

Brad, the old ports for CentOS 6 are now pointing to the new server. The hostname is different. There are other changes that happened but I don't want to post all of it here. We can PM for details as needed. You can jump from one server to the other as needed I'm sure.

All, if you notice anything out of whack please let me know ASAP. I have the old MC server stopped but not killed.

Backups are enabled again on the new server. They will only run at 0250 and 1450 instead of four times a day though.

Oof. A hard-crash this morning that lost my inventory and my ender chest inv. Could you reset to last save or so? I had a lot in the ender chest that I don't want to lose. Thanks!

Yeah, my host just dropped power completely. I. had to switch off the power supply and turn it back on again. What time did it happen? After the 9am back?

Otherwise I'll have to go to the 3AM backup.

I need to do host updates and VMWare updates as well. Server is going down for a short period during this time.
