Katie Couric interviewed two of the women's beach volleyball players on the "Today" show this morning. The two of them, plus Katie, made for an 8am leg/foot-fest on my TV, as I was getting ready for work.

I gotta go with summer.

Ha! I was just going to say that, except I dug the other one...she kinda had an Alannis look to her.

At least in that one commercial. Not sure which one she is or if she's even still around?

Yea, I just spent some time looking for the Norwegians that played the number 2 American team of McPeak and Youngs. USA Today had Walsh and May all dressed up in Togas... first thought was that I was looking at Athena and Venus. Oh wait, these are the Greeks, so then uh... Athena and Aphrodites...

Me either! I can't wait, I love it, its a rush going down a huge slope. Any specific places you ski most often? For me its here. My uncle lives down there and is a big part of one of the ski shops down at the base of the mountain. Its not the biggest hill, but one of the major resorts in Ontario I am told.

As a Canadian I'm naturally inclined to say winter.
Add to that I've lived in Vancouver and am looking forward to moving back before 2010.

There are some sports I enjoy in each games, and I used to run the 800 and 1500m, so I'll usually watch both, but ice hockey beats grass hockey anyday.

I'm excited for 2010! I think I'll be up there watching the games with my friends. I'm just super regretful I didn't make it to 2002 for Salt Lake.

My favorite winter events are the sledding ones: 2-man bobsleigh, 4-man bobsleigh, skeleton and luge.

2-man luge just looks wrong though. I also like the downhill and Super-G for pure speed and the moguls even has been a treat each of the two last Olympics with Johnny Moseley's two signature moves.

...But the Summer Olympics is just a grander event, with more nations and events on the whole. If I had to choose one, it would be the Summer Olympics.

Olympic Hockey. Nuff Said.

I actually forgot about the Olympics because I've been so busy studying all the team rosters for the World Hockey Championship (aka The Canada Cup) that starts at the end of August.

Winter all the way, mainly for the reasons InactionMan and Eugene cited (also like to watch Men's and Women's downhill - those people are insane). However I have seen for myself the wisdom and wonder that is women's beach volleyball. Major props.

Still, there are plenty of indoor sand volleyball courts people use in the winter... I see no reason why the sport can't be moved to the Winter Olympics where is would clearly warm our hearts from the frigid cold and snow outside our windows.

Maybe it could become the first "universal Olympic event", being showcased in both the winter and summer games. I am Moogs and I approve this idea.

It's gotta be Summer for me. Can't beat water polo, swimming, and cycling. Three of the best sports in the world there.

There are more disciplines in the Summer Olympics and it certainly gets a lot more attention.

It is also more international, as the winter olympics is almost exclusive to european and north american participants.

I do love figure skating, but the summer olympics just has so many more sports that makes it a lot more exciting.

Also, not many countries can host the winter olympics, making it even more exclusive.

I might one day prefer the winter olympics when I move to Canada.

And "Eddie the Eagle" the legendary British Ski Jumper. (England being so alpine.)
Chileans, Australians, and New Zealanders are all frequent competitors in winter olympics.
The Japanese and Chinese have produced champion speed skaters and figure skaters.
Snowboarders and Freestyle performers can be found from almost every continent.
