I'll wait for Tuesday to see this confirmed and see what the upgrade prices will be. It might be cheaper just to upgrade one or two individual programs rather then buying the upgraded bundle.

I think this rev of the CS will garner many positive reviews once it's out in the world.
It is somewhat expensive, but it's also without peer IMO. You're getting a lot of great new functionality with that expense, trust me. ...into the light of a dark black night. |

I'm just hoping the Educational pricing will still be reasonable.

I don't see why it would change dramatically, but who knows. If it hasn't changed in 3 or 4 years, then an increase is a possibility.

Never bought adobe products yet. I'm wondering... does the cd key will work on Windows/Mac or if I buy the Mac version, it will only work on OSX ?

Yeah, that's correct. It costs like $4 and they send you the Mac software. Pretty easy to do with a phone call.
I think it's kind of stupid that Photoshop doesn't come with Web Standard. It'll cost me $400 to upgrade Photoshop CS2 and Dreamweaver 8 to their CS3 versions but if I wanted to upgrade to Web Premium, the only one with Photoshop, I'd have to shell out $1399... Oh well. |

Academic Prices are up now - at least on the UK Education site.
I chose Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Standard - Student Edition - ÂŁ163.32 Also, interestingly, at the bottom of the page it says 'English language version is expected to ship by end April 2007.' That's really soon! Regards Last edited by Jason : 2007-03-27 at 05:12. Reason: posts merged |

Hey, thanks Jason. That's really interesting. Isn't that about what CS2 sold for? That's pretty close to what it sold for here.
[edit] http://www.academicsuperstore.com/qu...ch=cs3&x=0&y=0 They're up on Academic Superstore (an academic software seller in the states) now, too. Interesting tidbits: Photoshop CS3 Extended is the same price as plain jane CS2 and they also have the software listed as shipping in "mid-April." Despite the fact that I'm more of a Web guy, I'll probably get Design Standard if I get one of the bundles. It's much closer to what I need for my journalism classes. Plus, it's only $100 more than just Photoshop and it includes InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat. An excellent deal, IMO. |

Happy to answer any questions now that the NDA has passed.
For those wondering about the difference between PS Extended and Standard, to me the most compelling features are the new motion related additions. Painting directly onto movie frames, treating movies as regular layers, and controlling a movie from an After Effects-like timeline is very cool. For photographers there is also a more powerful version of Vanishing Point, HDR image processing, and Clone Sourcing (where you can offset, rotate and do all sorts of things to customize your clone source area, to better fit your destination area). There's also some serious functionality for medical and forensic imaging, so people in those markets will want to take a close look. The Extended features were held out of the public beta so they're being introduced today for the first time. That's why I mention it. Other notes: SPRY framework for Dreamweaver is a pretty cool thing also. Allows you to add all sorts of standards-based interactive menus, effects, etc without having to hand-code them all yourself. Also, tons of common CSS layout templates will make it a lot easier for people to get started as the column and container behaviors are all laid out for you. Just about every variant I've ever seen is covered. DW does not take advantage of the new Common Adobe Interface yet, but hopefully it will in the future. All the other bigtime apps - Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, GoLive, Flash, and to some extent Bridge - have the new interface and it rocks IMO. Extremely easy to customize your workspace now without restacking and nudging things all over the place, and you can have a lot more functionality available to you without taking up much additional screen space. Pwnage! ...into the light of a dark black night. |

Hey Moogs, how much integration is there between InDesign and Dreamweaver? I'd love to be able to build a design in InDesign and export it as XHTML to Dreamweaver.
Also, can InDesign CS3 documents be opened in InDesign CS2? I'm thinking about buying the Design Premium bundle, but only if that works. If not, I'll get Web Premium and save myself a hundred bucks on EDU pricing. [rant]I just wish there was a way to build your own bundle without paying full-price for the apps. I just want Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and Photoshop (and maybe InDesign), but I don't want the other crap that comes with the bundles I'm looking at. I really don't give a rat's ass about Fireworks or Flash.[/rant] |

This will be my first CS purchase and I am curious to know - will it likely ship all on one disc with one serial number for all apps or is it likely to be multiple discs/serial numbers?
