My question is simple...
Will the InDesign that came with the first CS play nice with the new InDesign in CS2? I am referring to the ability to read the basic InDesign Document (.indd) between both. Can CS2 read CS1 documents and CS1 read CS2 documents? I found an update on Adobe's site, but I'm getting really confused with the InDesign version numbers and the CS version numberss. Please help! Thanks! |

CS2 should certainly be able to read CS1 documents. Backwards compatibility is good.
Forwards compatibility is the challenge. If they've changed the format, I don't see how CS1 would be able to understand CS2 unless they ship a plug-in. OS X can read OS 9, but OS 9 loses the plot on some OS X files. If they haven't changed the format, then no problem. |

It's been about a month since I did any testing so it's kind of slipped my mind, but yes, I believe there is the ability to open ID3 documents from ID4. In fact, I recall opening some ID2 documents from ID4 during my tests. Nothing fancy but it worked well enough.
Not sure about the reverse compatibility thing. Let me ask a few people and see what they say. ...into the light of a dark black night. |
