Aha. Too bad squiddies don't spawn above sea level – that would make for a fun build without all the fill-in work.
So.... you need a 256x256 area with minimal rivers, ponds, whatnot.... how about here? : It's in a chunk that's never going away and not much going on so far. Plus it's a cool spot. So it goes. |

Good looking area. The ponds would have to be filled in, and a good underground search for caverns, mines, etc. and their accompanying puddles would have to be undertaken.
Still, I'm willing to wait until we trim. No sense going to all the work if the ocean south of the trap is suddenly filled in with *ahem* desert! - AppleNova is the best Mac-users forum on the internet. I can fill water with sand. I would be happy to help. Just give me the landmarks that are my fill points and I'll use admin majiks to help!

Any objections to this trim (x2 chunks around CC + the populated legs)?
I might do a quick thing in the area between the + signs and don't want to waste time if it's going away. Also, 1.12.1 is out.... any timeline on moving to Terracotta World? Bueller? So it goes. |

I have no objections to it. I'm kinda waiting on Brad to make it back to the game to help with this. He built the tool to do the trim, I don't know it at all.

Eh, screw it. I'm tearing down the towers and we'll replace them with something else come the new seed. New seeds are more fun anyways!
So, with that, it comes out to this? Yes? : I kept a few chunks of the ocean I need E of the museum, plus the Mooshroom Isle because it fit so nicely into a chunk and it's fun to go out there at night and mooshcow-tip. So it goes. |

While we wait, could we just update the current world to 1.12.1? There's no real biome updates besides parrots that would keep us from needing to wait for a trim, so whenever Brad is available he can do his thing. The texture pack is updated for 1.12, so why not? There's going to be a slow week or so anyways for those of us waiting on our rows of fiery furnaces. Lots of blocks to cook.
So it goes. |

I'll look at getting the new CentOS 7 ANMC machine built running 1.12.1 this week. It is already running, as you have seen, just not with our seed going in it.
The thing is, there are some backend changes that really make a difference with how we administer the server. Sadly, this means it's not just a flip of the switch. I'll start making it happen though. Well, no rush really since there's not a lot of us on at the moment, but it would be nice to have the new blocks to play with.
Thanks again for everything, T. So it goes. |

What time is it?
Go to anmc.dyndns.org:25566 with your client and 1.12.1 as the version. All I did was copy the world files to the server running 1.12 originally and just upgraded to .1. This world is going to go away so don't build much but please do test it. Louis L'Amour, “To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. I did find one little thing that involves the Texture Pack – missing recipe book icon when you click on the crafting table:
The recipe book still opens up if you click to the left of the grid, so it's not a game-breaker or anything. Other than that everything seems to be woking and looking great. So it goes. |

For some reason I thought Brad had fixed that. I recall him fixing something he discovered in the resource pack that needed to be updated.

Aha, found it. It's fixed in Brad's pack v1.12b, server is running Brad's pack v1.12a.

Fixed. Also added the sha1 sum so it is "verified".

Sooo..... Any downside to just upgrading the current world to 1.12.1 with a shave and a haircut later? Test world seems to be stable and working fine.
So it goes. |

Ok, sounds like a plan. One day you will try to log in with the old 1.11 client and it won't work. I'll try to make that day tomorrow.
I still have issues to resolve on the backend though. Backups being a prime example. While we shouldn't need them, the ability to restore is a big deal. Maps might also be an issue. I'm not sure how compatible with 1.12 the program I use is. Louis L'Amour, “To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. Looks like I found the script Brad was using to prune the maps. Now I just need to know the chunks that need to be saved. Any chance you have to coordinates of the chunks you want added handy? I'm going to use this tool to make sure I keep the right files.
kscherer, I am going to go ahead and prune the oceans near your squid spawner and see what forms near it this time. That is, once I know the chunks to keep. I'll help with admin stuff to replace water with sand or air. Edit: Right now these are the chunk files to keep: Code:

Very cool, T. I'm glad you figured it out, not least of all for world file size.
I went over to check out the spot near Ken's trap, and it's ocean. Then I went over to the S portal and it's ocean/jungle. Pretty sure it's the same seed as 1.11 (don't know if you were changing the seed outside the trim or not). So it goes. |

I didn't change the seed though I see no reason why we can't and just run the trim again.
What are your thoughts? New seed for fun? |

New seeds are always fun!

Ok, trimmed and new seed. I went with an md5 hash of something. Very random to me.

Hmm. That one didn't stick. Checked out the NW portal, and while the tower was gone, it was still the 1.11 seed.
