I've been cleaning out my hard drive, and I noticed the iPod Software Updater program in my Utilities folder.

edit: WTF? Why are there 3 of these? I must of triple clicked by accident. Apologies.

edit again: Okay, so hitting the space bar (?) caused the thread to be posted before I finished typing. Maybe Cmd-Space is like hitting return, or something. I don't know. I thought I hit stop soon enough to stop it, but I guess not.

And? You can safely delete it if you don't need it.

I've been cleaning out my hard drive, and I noticed the iPod Software Updater program in my Utilities folder, six of them all the way back to 2004. All together, they take up about 380 megabytes of space. Do I need to keep these once I've installed the update?

Why would you? Even if you, for some reason, needed to reinstall an update, you could always download it again. The Receipts folder will make sure that you don't get a software update notice about it again, so you should be 100% ok.

Personally, I keep the newest version downloaded and throw the rest out.

Thanks, I just wanted to check before I deleted something I might need. I couldn't see any reason why I would ever need those in the future, most of them are for an iPod I don't own anymore, but I didn't know if iTunes needed to know they were "there" or some other weird reason.
