Why, it's butt-tingling cold!

Back in the summer we posted our Dashboard weather widgets, attempting to freak out fellow 'Novans about how hot it was in our particular town.

Today, let's do the same thing...but with cold. Here's what I woke up to. I actually went out in it for a minute or so, dressed only in my robe and slippers (nothing on underneath). That'll wake you up...

Makes my face hurt, among other things. As you can see, it's crystal clear...making for one of those bone-chilling, dry cold days. It's beautiful outside (you can see for miles, no haze) and the sky is a deep, luscious blue, but...BRRRRRR.

Oh, and if you use Celsius, make it known...

This winter has been pretty mild so far, and we're in for a massive heat wave come this weekend. Time to break out the shorts and sandals!

So it goes.

Here is Orlando, FL at 8:20 AM... it got down to 27 last night which is the coldest it's gotten here in five years. Last night they were expecting snow flurries on the coast. Crazy.

It's amazing to me that it'll jump up about 25 degrees here in the next six or so hours. 40 (our projected high today) is going to feel like a tropical front, compared to this "in the teens" nonsense of the past few days. And then back up into the 50's and 60's, which is probably 10-15 degrees warmer than it's supposed to be here this time of year.

So nutty. No wonder I've had about 12 colds the past two months...it's warm when you think it should be cold, and vice versa. There's no "put your summer clothes up, and get the winter stuff out" here; I was in shorts and Birkenstocks five days ago, then wearing my heaviest coat (and hat, scarf and gloves) last night and I'll probably be back in shorts this weekend!

All my clothes - warm and cold weather - are crammed into my closet and drawers; I just reach in and grab what works for that particular day.

It's currently +7F here in beautiful wherever the heck I am. It was much colder at 6:45AM when I was waiting for the bus today though.

I can't post the weather widget from my iPhone but it's kinda funny as it says: Hi=17F, Lo=10F, Current=6F. You'd think they'd change the Lo value since current is below Lo, but what can you do.

A cold and windy 20 degrees here in Manhattan Kansas. Thank god I walk everywhere; I hate being in a cold car waiting for it to warm up!

Yes, being out in it is much better, and how I prefer it.

You know, you can do what millions of us do...run out and start the car up, turn the heaters/defrosters on and then go back inside and let that whole "warming up" thing take place while you're finishing your Pop-Tart in the comfort of your warm house. Go out in about 10 or so minutes and voila...warm, comfortable car!

It was 14 degrees in Little Rock when I left the house at 5:50 this morning.
I have my heat set on 65 and it was on more than it was off last night.

To make you feel a bit grateful, here's the five day for Vostok.

Mind, it's summer there now- you don't want to know the winter temperatures.

it's 41 degrees here in Vegas, but I checked where my mom lives in New Hampshire, and it's -2 degrees - that's 2 below zero. Man I'm glad I moved back to the west coast.

If you think those temps are butt-tingling cold, you are either a charter member of the namby pamby club, or have buttchillitis or something. It's not officially "cold" anywhere (unless you're in the tropics) until the mercury dips below 20 degrees, and it's not manly to mention the cold unless the mercury is below 10 degrees. If you're a suffering Calgary bastard like Murbot, it's never manly to mention cold unless you get a mild case of frost-bite walking to your car in the morning.

We're on holiday in southern Florida and last night my wife and and I ditched the kids and went to South Beach (in Miami) for a getaway, and we were greeted with temps in the 30's! It was okay by me, but the locals were pretty sure it was the apocalypse.

It's 10° back in Chicago.

South Floridians are the biggest sissies on the map when it comes to cold. At least in California they have various places that get cold and so they don't need to be reminded... but in Florida... it really is the apocalypse to them. Cupcakes. I think I'll call a friend of mine from Miami and ask if his wife put mittens on him today.

I'm not only a "charter member" of the Namby Pampy Club, my good sir, but I'll have you know that you are talking directly to the president of the esteemed organization, and I don't think I appreciate your insolent tone. Now kindly piss off and let me get back to my shivering, tingling butt!

It might help if you put some pants on. It should reduce the tingling.

Here Paul, this will warm you up just like when you were a kid, and your Mom brought you one of these and a bowl of Campbell's soup. Enjoy!

My mom called me in a panic last night, telling me it was below 30 in Daytona. As horrifying that is, since I'm a native Floridian, I was enduring far worse. Right now in Trenton it's 22 and feels like 9! I went outside in 2 shirts, a sweater, and a down coat, and then turned around and went right back inside. My boyfriend can go out without me, I'm not LEAVING this house until it feels like it's above 20.
