When did this start? I'm not much of a YouTuber; so, I just noticed this today.

It just started like yesterday.

Sucks for people who had previously uploaded widescreen videos that were saved as letterboxed 4:3, they look like crap.

Yeah, I just noticed this today, but I hardly ever use YouTube either so I just figured I was out of the loop as well.

I uploaded a widescreen clip that I encoded with Turbo.264 (AppleTV quality), and it still displays as 4:3. Not even letterboxed. The iPhone-quality encode of the same video already on YouTube displays correctly, if more than a bit ugly. Meh.
