That'll make a few people happy, I imagine?

Details here, at AppleInsider.

AT&T on Wednesday published an open letter to customers on its iPhone 3G S upgrade eligibility program in which it announced that, for a limited time, it will offer early iPhone 3G adopters the opportunity to purchase an iPhone 3G S at the same $199 and $299 price points as new customers.
Interesting.

Interesting.
Read the AT&T press release:

AT&T Announcement

Basically, from my understanding of the reading, you still have to be eligible for an upgrade before August to get it on launch day. Depending on your monthly bill, you're eligible for a new phone between 12-24 months.

If you bought your 3G on launch day, or shortly thereafter, you're only shaving off a few weeks. If you bought it in August then you're eligible.

I'm not sure about my eligibility. We have a family plan with 5 lines and we pay ~$300 a month. Does that mean 3 people are eligible? None of us because no individual person pays $99/month?

I'm gonna have to go to an AT&T store to figure this out. Further updates as events warrant.

Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end.

I'm not eligible until February, so I'm just going to wait until the next iPhone comes out.

I think I can wait that long..

I hope..

Dang. I'm not eligible until April 2010, so it'll likely be the next revision before I upgrade from my 3G.

Perhaps they'll hit eBay and Craigslist and not be outrageously priced and I can snag one before April. Wishful thinking, I know.

I'm the same way. I'm not eligible for upgrade pricing until Feb. 2010.

I will keep an eye on eBay to see how much unlocked 3G's go for for a bit and maybe I'll be able to clear enough to cover it.

No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now.
