CHERISH IT, AND HOLD IT TIGHTLY.

All I remember about this guy is him in the video wearing a tight leopard-spotted jumpsuit ( ) and sporting a shag mullett to die for. Oh, he was something all right...

Actually, I wish someone would release a DVD of all the videos during the first 1-2 years of MTV. I can't imagine anything more hilarious than to see some of those old chestnuts!

Joe "King" Carasco, anyone? Let's Active? English Beat? Haircut 100? The Specials? Tenpole Tudor? The Vapors? Romeo Void? Madness? "One step beyonnndddddddd...".

That would be "Rock Me Tonite", and it's TOTALLY embarrassing to watch him primp around in such a swishy manner. Pink parachute pants, a ripped muscle shirt and his big effort to "dance"

Beavis and Butthead had every right to cackle over it.

I defy anyone here to watch it and not cringe and avert your eyes. It's truly horrible on seven or eight different levels!

Here was this rockin', guitar-based guy (GREAT first album) and I guess he figured - in the era of Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet - he needed to "get with it" and soften his image a bit.

Didn't work.

It would be like Bob Seger walking out on stage in a thong and eyeliner. No one should ever have to endure that.

I dislike AppleNova for the fact that it means absolutely nothing. Unless you're one of those drugged up, abstract-thinking weirdos that see meaning when a car thuds over a pothole.

AppleFaction does have a lot of meaning. It got my vote.

Also, macfaction is a bit limiting in its scope and representation. Having Apple in the title implies that all Apple topics are fair game - not just Mac OS related products.

*bows head in shame* good point

(I still think my reasoning for preferring Apple in the title is sound, though!)

I think when picking names, it's good to start with an "A", if possible.

Then, whenever there's a list, that name will be near the top, and will be among the first selected by those reading the list.

AAPL ?
<checks... nope. taken>

Old School geeks know that the first names in the list actually start with digits or punctuation, though OS X doesn't accept some leading punctuation (various flavours of 'nix reserve . - and | as command separators), nor does the www.

How about wired-mock-turtleneck.com?
I already own www.realitydistortionfield.com and plan on making it more than the april fools joke that it is now.

I like AppleNova....

The name should have apple in it, not mac, what with the iPod and all...

Ever put Appleinsider in an anagram checker?

Well, AppleRevolution is the most alliterative, most relevant and least exclusive title you've given us to pick. I don't like the connotations of the "faction" choice because it's exclusionary and petty-sounding. What does AppleNova mean? Nothing.

In the event that nothing has yet been decided I wanted to cross-post my message from the sticky note just below this one, in case people have stopped reading that one.....

and I quote::::

As most of you know I've been an AppleInsider for years-n-years-n-years. The thing that none of these names has taken into account is the fact that "we" have all hung together, through the Great Blackout, the Server Dumps and EVERYTHING. There's a real community here (a great example is ZO's AI Community page), the most fundamental reason we continue to congregate.

Sure, AppleNova might sound flashy to you, but does it mean anything much? No.

Could you guys consider some names that capture the idea that we're a community that has been driven from pillar to post?

I would suggest appletribe.com, but it's taken. Some of the other extensions are still available for that domain name...and perhaps the owner would be willing to sell the .com. The domain "insidertribe.com" and "MacTribe.com" are available, as is "ClanInsider.com", "AppleCaravan.com", OR, get you could make a statement...

KasparsGhosts.com

You get the idea.
