Just came across this and thought it might be relevant to the image editor discussion. GIMP is now available natively for OS X - and it's free.

Gotta love how they think that, eleven years after 10.0, a UI that doesn't rely on X11 is an accomplishment.

Well, there are two other UI changes of note: 1. there is *one* set of menus and it's stuck to the menu bar instead of a window, and 2. there's now a new "one-window mode" that pins the pallets to the sides.

Also, this has nothing to do with Mountain Lion since the new version of Gimp works on my old Snow Leopard workhorse. So, thread splitting!

Okay, that said, as someone who occasionally has to dive into Gimp for functionality that I haven't found in other editors (like some of GMIC's functions), the new version is VERY WELCOME.
