Silly me. Fired up new iMac this morning, imported a bunch of settings from MBP which I decided I didn't want. Decided to reinstall OS to factory settings and start again.
Now, I've erased the HD, the Install DVD is in, and I'm at disk utility screen but don't know what to do. I can see the HD and the Install DVD on the left and the First Aid, Erase, Partition, RAID and Restore tabs. Could some kind soul guide me to the next step? Many thanks! |

Silly me. I quit Disk Utility and the OS is installing. Never mind (for now!).
Good weekend all. |

Yeah, the modal nature of utilities on the install DVD is somewhat strange. When you launch something from the Utilities menu, it becomes the only accessible app (due to lack of Dock or other app-switching means), so you have to quit that in order to return to Installer. Rather Mac OS pre-7-ish.

I think it's more a case of that you need to perform anything from the utils menu first, and not while the installer is running!

But it's not very obvious how you'd return to Installer.
