Leading lines are one of the basic elements in photography, and one that I think everyone can find in every day life. This could have a lot of different meanings, and does not have to be limited to, but should encompass the basic principal, which I quoted below.

Quote:
Leading lines are lines within an image that leads the eye to another point in the image, or occasionally, out of the image. Anything with a definite line can be a leading line. Fences, bridges, even a shoreline can lead the eye.
Rules: Same as before, no heavy duty editing, including HDR. More importantly have fun!

Entries must be submitted by October 14th at 12AM PST.

Keep an eye out in the papers... If I disappear my girlfriend chopped me into little pieces and hid me in the walls.

^^ One more quality post from the desk of Ebby. ^^

Here's one attempt... i guess a line spiraling inward towards the center of the photo counts as a leading "line"... right? It draws you into the center of the picture then you realize you're being drawn towards the reflection ("out" of the picture)... whoa.

You know submitting photos by other people doesn't count. Nice example though.

PB PM, Your example image would have been a good contender for my reflections topic last month - that water looks perfectly flat, and there is that strange green line running through the reflected image!

OK, I have given up keeping this sig up to date. Lets just say I'm the guy that installs every latest version as soon as its available!

I assume you are kidding, but in case you weren't, I believe that Joel Dabrowski is the real world name of BuonRotto...

I cannot keep track of everyone's reals names here, I deal with enough names at work. If that is his name, all's well.

Keeping with my mainstay military theme, this was from an airshow here in Sacramento weekend before last. The only edit was a crop to snip out a bunch of empty sky; the thing *was* moving pretty fast, and it can be a neat trick to keep them in-frame most of the time.

Yes, 'tis. Sorry for the confusion. That's my wife there on a big ferry to Ocracoke Island a couple if weekends ago.

A pretty obvious line, leading the viewer into the picture (and to the gull)...

Just wanted to pop in here and say that I'm loving how this month's competition is shaping up. Great subject choice, PB PM!

It's true. It's nice to see a composition-oriented challenge, rather than a subject-oriented one (if that makes sense).

As usual, I want to post something but probably won't have the time. I have class to pretend to go to now, and that's taking up a surprising amount of energy. :WTF: But I really like everyone's pictures.

and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong

True, we did do food, but for pork lovers, I guess bacon could be a leading line.

The winner is BuonRotto, I like the feel of the image and there are several leading lines that all come together. The runners up are GSpotter, another nice image, and evan for creativity.

ezkcdude: Your second shot is really good, and would have made my choice a lot harder.

Congrats to Rotto on winning.

I am sorry that I did not enter; it was a worthwhile theme. This is the second PCT in a row that I have missed. I did take a couple of pictures for the theme, but they are still in my camera. With one thing or another I have just not gotten around to running recent pics through my 'processing' stream. Unfortunately, Aperture and Sigma do not talk, so my workflow is much more complicated than it ought to be.

I look forward to the next theme. Hopefully I will have my act sufficiently together to actually submit a photo before the due date!

Thanks! Sorry for the late reply. 'Twas a busier weekend than I imagined, I guess.

So the next theme will be coming tonight. I have to get out of work first, but I'll have an evening to myself (with the dogs) to think about it...

Ezkcdude: I like your second image too.
