This is strange, always after Steve does a major keynote, the Top sellers on Apple site are normally a reflection of the new product releases. I am ususally a contributing factor to this, so it's not too theoretical. However I couldn't help thinking this time round that there was not enough in the releases to make me rush out as normal to buy everything, and the Apple site would suggest that a lot of other people feel the same.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

Not sure what you mean: unless I'm missing something, the only Macs amongst the top sellers happen to be the two Core Duo-based models.

I'm sure there's some kind of reluctance based on the fact that a lot of native applications will take some time to arrive, and also because the previous offerings in both cases were, in fact, quite decent products. However, that doesn't make these two new Macs in any way "disappointing". Make no mistake: they're truly great offerings, for a very good price, and definitely well worth buying.

There generally aren't too many Macs in the top seller list since the iPod became the Unholy Lord of Cupertino.

The Amazon top sellers are here:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...Fencoding=UTF8

I think the real issue is that the new products aren't (officially) shipping straightaway. I don't think it's fair to compare until they are.

I hear you - however, The Apple store is normally a good reflection of spontanious buying and It normally works that when Steve gets a new product out it goes straight up into the best sellers and then slowly dies back. In the UK Apple store there is not a single product from the Keynote up there. I mean I would at least expect Ilife and Iwork to be there. But then again, I am looking at what I get for the new revs and there is for the first time ever - not enough in there to make me go out and upgrade. I'm just going to wait for the next rev instead. This is from someone who never thinks twice about upgrading.

awilso,
That has only happened when Steve introduces a new iPod. I've never seen it happen for a Mac. Why? Because Apple sells WAAAAY fewer Macs than iPods (Duh).

Methinks you are trying to spread FUD sir.

Cheers,

Frankly, I'm a bit surprised they already place when they aren't shipping yet. Even if I were in a position to be able to buy a new mac, and they had come out with one that was exactly what I wanted, and had been waiting for, I'd still wait till they were shipping to order.

So they're cutting your list off at 10 items... the US store's homepage lists the top 15, and you can click through to see the top 25-30. Maybe in the UK and Australia the products are coming in at #11 and #14 like they are in the US.

Seriously, though, I don't see why you're concerned. Based on the US top sellers, clearly the new Intel machines are the two fastest-selling computers at the online Apple Store. Of course iPods and accessories are higher on the list than computers -- we all know that they're selling more iPods than Macs these days. 14 million last quarter, was it? These counts are based on unit sales, not revenue.

And finally, for the record, here are the Amazon Top Sellers under computers today:

Quote:
1. Apple iBook Notebook 12.1" M9846LL/A (1.33 GHz PowerPC G4)
2. Apple MacBook Pro Notebook 15.4" (1.67 GHz Intel Core Duo)
3. Apple iMac Desktop with 20" Display MA200LL/A (2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo)
4. Apple iBook Notebook 14.1" M9848LL/A (1.42 GHz PowerPC G4)
5. Apple iMac Desktop with 17" Display MA199LL/A (1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo)
6. Apple MacBook Pro 15.4" Notebook MA091LL/A (1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo)
7. Apple iMac G5 Desktop with 17" MA063LL/A (1.9 GHz PowerPC G5)
8. Apple PowerBook Notebook 12.1" M9691LL/A (1.5 GHz PowerPC G4)
9. Apple iMac G5 Desktop with 20" MA064LL/A (2.1 GHz PowerPC G5)
10. HP Special Edition L2105NR 14" Notebook PC (AMD Turion 64 Processor ML-32)
9 of the top 10 are Apples, and all of Apple's new Intel models are on the list -- even the MacBook Pros, which aren't even available for shipping yet! Enough said?

Ahh - at last the UK store is strating to show some action:

iPod nano
iPod
MacBook Pro
iMac Intel Core Duo
iPod Radio Remote
Bose SoundDock with carry bag
Office Bonus
iPod AV Connection Kit
Nikon+free SD card
Sonic Impact i-Fusion

However Iwork is getting Shit reviews by people which I tend to agree with - if you already have iwork, there's no way it makes sense to buy the new version for the price it's being offered at. I would pay £14 for an upgrade and that's it.
