A lot of my friends have a new imac with the built it isight and I was thinking about buying an external isight however they seem to cost quite a bit of money. Do you htink that there are any other types of webcams that can be used on ichat that work just as good as the iSight and maybe even better for a little cheaper price or am I compelled to buying an expensive iSight?

If you want halfway decent quality, you'll have to spend a hundred or more on a webcam. Otherwise, just get some random $30 model.

I have used external iSight, quality is exceptional. You need the bandwidth to support it though.

Don't get carried away in your apple buying though, meds, only buy these things when you really need them, which may not be a lot. For example, I have a built in iSight, I used it when I first got my Mac to show off to family, now I never do.

My husband and I used our iSights to keep in touch for a few months when we had to live in different states. Both were external, hooked up to Powerbooks, as this was before Apple started embedding them. Now I have an iMac with an iSight embedded and I don't see any difference in quality.

When people say "Zap your P-RAM", it makes me feel a little dirty. 

Maybe you could sell your external one to meds?
