I want to use my iSight on my iMac as a security surveillance device, so that I can see a picture of my study on a website every 20 seconds. I have a username and password for my webspace, although I have never really used it.

Basically I want it to be a picture of my study updated every 20 secs. Is there a really easy way to do this?

EvoCam will do the trick. If it's scriptable, something like Photo Booth will work too (but Photo Booth isn't scriptable).

It might be scriptable... create an Applescript for it and let us know.

I'm with you on this, Farenheit. Someday I would like to learn how to "script" something. I probably should work on my degree first. . . Work, then play

Would this be a use for "Automator"? It sounds like something it might be able to whip up, not that I have a single clue how to use Automator or what it does. This sounds the closest I can think of though.

WTH?!? Did you do this on purpose?

edit: that's for MBs and MBPs but still... Did you see that digg article and then get the idea? Not that it's a problem, just curious.

Yeh I saw the article on Digg, but I presumed that was for MacBooks and since I didn't have one, I needed a more appropriate piece of software.

Just last week Sal Soghoian and Leo Laporte did a MacBreak episode on this topic (of using Photo Booth and Automator + Applescript Loop Utility). I'm sure you could fairly easily modify it to save the pics to your web site's folder, etc...
