It turns out that my ISP (Rogers in Toronto) has increased the speed of services to 5Mb/800 with no cost increase. Except one of the requirements is purchasing an approved DOCSIS modem from them for $80. I'm not getting those new speeds so I'm assuming mine is not a DOCSIS. Anyone care to explain the difference in Cable modems for me? Anyone in the Big Smoke using Rogers have any hints on getting a DOCSIS modem from Rogers without paying for it?

Not that I need those kinda speeds. I'm just being greedy.

I think most cable modems are DOCSIS compliant. I haven't seen one that isn't. Perhaps there is a special firmware upgrade they do at to the new modems?

^^ One more quality post from the desk of Ebby. ^^
