Got very lucky. Couldβve guessed at least 4-5 other words on my third try; went with my gut/first one that crossed my mind.

This time around I practiced Science, profiting from two failed guesses that reduced my pool of letters by nearly half. By the 5th guess I had managed to push two letter finds into place and intuitively lucking onto two additional letters. The final row was simply putting the correct letter in the first spot. It really is more fun for me to improvise my way through the process!

Seeing other peoples thought process is interesting. I have a few words that use in a rotation, figure itβs random, so I should be as well. Being 6/6 more often than not, maybe that doesnβt work. Then again I find I have a hard time picturing words and numbers in my head. I have to write it out (math) or sound them out in my head (words) and if I cannot the solution is hard to find. This game is great, been practicing with the unlimited version, not sure if Iβm getting better or worse.

The only real "strategy"/approach I take is two vowels in each two initial words, all four being different (BACON, FETID or GROUT, TAKEN, etc., as those will pretty much give me a close count on vowels (and possible placement, if I'm lucky). And maybe one of the six consonants will land in a way that makes it easy to figure out from the unused letters. As a longtime Jumble/Boggle player, I'm pretty good at seeing partial words or random assortment of letters and making something from them. But those first two moves set the tone. If I'm still in a complete fog by the third guess, I know I'm probably looking at a 5/6 or 6/6 (or bust out) session. It either seems to happen quick, or not.

Mine was MOIST because it fit the common consonant + vowel quota and I liked how I looked in the mirror while saying it.

It was an odd one, but after two plays, I had two letters locked in. And I also knew, from those two plays, which other, more common letters weren't going to work/be available, so I thought about it for a bit - considering a few letters I typically don't, and with a bit of time/thinking/"what if" between move #2 and #3 - before making my third entry, the one I felt most confident about. To my delight, all the tiles flipped green and the little onscreen thing said "impressive".

This worked exactly how I like it to...those first two plays either a) locking in some letters, or b) eliminating ones I'd normally gravitate to. This match was "b", eliminating/limiting possibilities, but sometimes that works just as well. I never would've looked at some other letters otherwise and I probably would've burned 3-5 plays trying the other, more common ones.
This has been my favorite one so far, because of how it came about. I've shared this game with about 8-9 people this past week. I seem to be the only one who prefers/appreciates that "once a day" angle. I don't wanna go down that Angry Birds path of playing this all damn day, etc. I hope it stays like this. Once Facebook or whoever buys them out, makes it an app with "levels" and "purchase more clue tokens" silliness, animated colors and shit flying all over the place and "rate this game!" prompts every 45 seconds, I'll be done. But right now it's pure and a nice, simple five-minute diversion that I genuinely look forward to every 24 hours (either at midnight, or when I wake up in the morning). Quite pleased with today:
Wordle 205 3/6 β¬β¬π¨β¬π¨ β¬π©β¬π¨π¨ π©π©π©π©π© Got lucky grabbing 2 letters on the first go, and then just straight up deduction. I liked this one a lot. (Much like Letterpress, I also then like to consider the words used as a "writing prompt".) |

I've realized, I play the game like I'm on hard mode without actually being on hard mode. I'm just so hopeful for the lucky shot, I guess.
