5 minutes in and we've already seen the intro of a 15" Air. Could be an exciting day!
![]() ![]() Starting at $1299. 13" models get a $100 price cut. Nice! So it goes. |

Mac Pro seems to be basically the Mac Studio but with PCIe slots.

Incidentally, the M2 Air is now $100 less, and the 15-inch Air is $1299. That's less than I would've expected.

Spending more time talking about Stickers than all 3 new Macs combined.

This new Journaling stuff is actually really neat. I journal a lot in a mix of physical journals I've been customizing in a bullet-journal, planner, mood-prompt hybrid setup. Obviously that won't be affected by this.
But, I've been using an app called Daylio for over 5 years as a way of keeping a quick daily digital self-check in. I like Daylio b/c I've configured it with a mix of stuff I have done in the day and with mood markers - so at the end of the day I can tap off if I've taken meds, if I've gone to a special event, if I've showered, socialized, etc. This is really gonna mess with 3rd party apps. Gotta say, I really did love the era of Konfabulator widgets.

I'm excited for lock screen customization with widgets.
The Safari profiles to separate things out is great, and the tracking blocking is awesome. The Airpods audio features looks great, but I still don't want to have 2 separate ones. I'd like a version that came together behind the head like the Skullcandy or other types. Or a very lightweight pair with cups over the ears that have a band behind the head. timely that I talked about journaling with Daylio to talk about mental health, and then they started talking about these extra new features about doing standardized assessments to send to a provider, logging my feelings temporarily or over a day, etc. I'm currently handling provider check-ins via logging into a survey portal my provider runs, doing it right on my phone would be so much easier.

Holy hell, this is painful. I'm just not their crowd anymore. How long are they going to yammer on about Stickers?!
I'm popping in every 15-20, just to see what's going on. But gone are the days when I can breathlessly sit through all this, start to finish, with true interest. It's all passed me by, I believe...I'm well out of my 20's, and *gasp* I don't use my iPhone for every single task/pursuit in the world (I'm still happy to flip on/off a standard wall light switch, or open/close my curtains by hand, I drive myself wherever I go, I get my own groceries and food, I buy toiletries/necessities locally vs. a constant parade of Amazon boxes at my front door like everyone else I know, etc.), so, naturally, I'm not the type in their crosshairs/headlights. ![]() Honestly, nothing makes me feel as old, white and/or "uncool"/out of touch than watching an Apple keynote/presentation, post-2019 or so. I don't think I check a single box they'd appreciate/desire! ![]() Last edited by psmith2.0 : 2023-06-05 at 14:03. |

This is really cool but tell us the price OK?
I want to game on my Windows PC with some of these too...the problem is I don't want to have both this, and a Vive/Rift headset for games. Starts at $3499. I can wait until it's about a third of that.
Simultaneously super cool yet underwhelming, for now. |

Alas, with 21-25% VAT in European countries, this translates to 1600 EUR or more for the basic configuration (8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, likely in one chip as in the 13-inch M2 model with the well-known performance hit).

Hmm… “Starts at $3499”… I wonder what it ends at? And what gets upgraded when you pay more?
Unrelated to that, apparently people are using the Game Porting Toolkit to just play PC games on their Mac. Does anyone know if it’ll work for x86 macs? As much as I’d love to upgrade to one of the new Mac Studios, I’m not convinced my 2019 MBP needs to be replaced yet. When I was a kid, people who did wrong were punished, restricted, and forbidden. Now, when someone does wrong, all of the rest of us are punished, restricted, and forbidden... and the one who did the wrong is counselled and "understood" and fed ice cream. |

My first guess on "Starts at..." are the lenses for prescriptions and such. I can't image those are cheap prescription lenses.
