The implication was that he died of excessive recreational drug use. What is really sad is that apparently his two good friends died of similar causes that year.

Only "inappropriate" if it isn't true, IMO. Or just mean gossip or slander, which it doesn't come across as at all. Bruce worded it about as diplomatically, clinically and non-judgmentally as possible.

If it's true, then it's merely factual information, which is simply what Escher asked for. And something everyone here, as adults, can hear/process.

It's been long enough time, so I don't see it as piling on or "too soon?".

If that's what happened, then that's what happened.

Unfortunate.

No, that’s completely on me. I should’ve looked harder at the 2011 last post. In any case it’s hardly a crisis/affront, 18 years isn’t “too soon” on any planet, and everyone can relax.

If this thread is to be a silent, untouched memorial type of thing, naybe lock it and delete every post since Escher’s question?
