My mom just got back from a two-month visit to China a few days ago, and while she was there she used an old PowerBook with Mail.app. Now I need to combine its Mail archive with the one in her desktop computer at home... plus she had an external hard drive with her which also has some Mail messages on it. How do I combine all three into a single one on her main computer again? I am just not quite sure how to tackle this... also, I suspect that if I poke around and get something figured out, it'll end up giving me a lot of duplicate messages. But the main thing is that I get her messages off the laptop, since she's giving me the laptop once everything has been migrated. Any help? Thanks!

It may be as easy as dropping ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes and whatever and POP-x@x.com@pop.x.com into ~/Library/Mail, if it's Tiger, 'cause Tiger uses individual files/per message. Panther, I'm not too sure about.

just go under the File menu to Import Mailboxes.
A folder called "Import" will be created in the Mailboxes pane. You can then drag messages from there to the Inbox as desired. |
