hello,
Not sure if it is the right venue. I have applied for a position to to the Apple store in Glasgow and been invited to the store for an interview. Would anyone know what is their interview process and what kind of things tto expect (technical assessment or that sort of thing..). advice would be very much appreciated. |

It depends on what position.
The concierge is more of a greeter and traffic flow director. The geniuses are the technical experts. The Specialists are the ones who actually sell the computers. Depending on what you applied to, the interview will be a lot different. (I had a few interviews with an Apple Store around me and wasn't hired. Still kind of pissed off about that. Both store managers said I would get the job, but I never got the meet with the hiring manager, and I didn't get it.) No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

Just a FYI:
Employees may be discouraged to participate on forums once they're hired. I know there was at least a member here who got the job, but I can't remember whom and whether the member is still active. Perhaps if you searched the forum for apple store job and see if you can find that member and see if the profile has contact information... HTH. |

I believe Messiahtosh got a gig for the campus Apple rep, at least for a while.
But I also think there was someone else here who got a job in an actual Apple retail store; their name is on the tip of my tongue... |

Oh.
I thought he hung around anyway.... Ah, well. Gotta be tough to give out advices since anyone who's an employee won't be here. |

Stop talking about me!
For those wondering, that job is behind me. I quit last May, the commute was simply too much with gas prices they way they are. I got a new job closer to where I live. Loved working there, though. It was a ton of fun. Yes, there is a no posting/blogging policy. I stuck to the Apple Outsider forum during my tenure as an Apple employee, and even that was a stretch. And unfortunately, no, I can't give you any hiring advice, other than just be yourself. Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end. |

LOL, Banana, I was subtly hinting at the fact that he had deactivated his old user account and started using a new one in cognito.

Luca,
Sorry. I'm just slow as molasses. I could've thought he kept the username, but obviously my memory fails me. |

Maybe you didn't, but someone here did. I don't remember who it was anymore.

I actually interviewed for a job at an Apple store last fall. Didn't get the job though.
...or DID I????? Seriously though? It's possible they Googled my name, saw that I have a million and a half posts at various computer-related forums under my real name, and were like "no way." |

I was offered a job at the Genius Bar at an Apple store, turned it down based on the crap salary they were offering.
There was a fairly simple written test they wanted you to take to get a basic idea of computer knowledge (which apparently wasn't a make or break deal, as someone who was a complete idiot did end up getting hired as a "genius" at that store) then two interviews with managers at the location. Not sure that that's a normal process though, or just how this particular store did things. They're looking for personality over knowledge though from what I could tell. Come across as a giant nerd and your chances will be lower than if you come across as a regular human being. Google is your frenemy. Caveat Emptor - Latin for tough titty I tend to interpret things in the way that's most hilarious to me |
