I have a 2.5 320gb hard drive that I was using in my old PS3. I'm planning to use it mostly for making back ups on a new PS3 slim with the same size hard drive and occasionally transferring files between it and my iMac.

Just wanted to get some suggestions on which ones to look at that have worked well for people here. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something that's relatively easy to put together and has some decent quality.

Thanks in advance.

I've found decent cheap ones at NewEgg, and really nice ones at OtherWorldComputing.com (more connection types) - I haven't shopped them at NewEgg in quite some time.

After some looking around, one that I have my eye on is this one:

Please let me know what you think about this once it arrives, if you decide to get it. I've got two 2.5" drives laying around that could be put to use with such an enclosure.

I've gone through a number of 2.5" enclosures and this Macally has been by far the best. Nice thing about it is that it has a couple of firewire ports so it's easily bus-powered. I hate those USB drives that need to take up two ports.

So it goes.

How do I know if my drive is going to require both USB ports? Some reviews seem to indicate only one USB port is sufficient, others say you need 2. Is there a steadfast rule for checking this out?

Got two of the enclosures today. My 160GB drive fits right in, and works with just one USB cable plugged in. All is well, I'd give the craftsmanship a B- but overall well worth the $10. Nice tip Foj!
