Are you a little sadist? IIRC, we have some members with arachnophobia...
(Luckily, I lost my arachnophobia within the last years)

To get this picture faster on a back page, here's a shot I took yesterday.
We visited Quedlinburg, a beautiful mediaval town (UNESCO world heritage):

I knew this one was perfect for B&W the moment I saw it.

Ha!, revenge for all our arachnophobic friends....I decided to leave some bleach in the sink while I went camping, and this little monster was found sunk at the bottom when I returned.

So sad

I just took some of my first B&W shots, so of course the first thing I have to do is upload one here

I think I'm going to be playing around in B&W a bit more after this first experiment. At least I don't have to worry about colour profiles

Nice grey tones in that one, Swox. What B&W method did you use?

Thanks Chinney

I actually took that one in RAW using my 40D's monochrome setting, then found out that it imports into iPhoto in colour, so I just put the saturation to 0, and lowered the exposure by about 0.2 or so, all in iPhoto

Out boating and this image begged to be monochrome.

Is that why its still in colour?

I was taking photos of some lenses, doing some lens reviews on my blog, and I just loved the look of this early 80s Tokina 28mm lens in black and white.

These were taken with my ancient Minolta A1 a few months ago, and heavily doctored in LightZone:

Maybe a moderator can move this thread to the "Creative Endeavors", so it will be reunited with the Color Photography thread ...

A few shots taken while I was walking around on the Stanley Park Seawall. The last shot is taken near one of the support columns of the Lion's Gate Bridge.

About one year ago, I was in Phoenix for a conference. Here's a shot from a trip to the Apache Trail it did on that occasion (Lost Dutchman State Park):

Just a few simple portraits. One of the results of a promotional shot I did for their upstart student company.

I love this photo in black and white, colour just did not do this scene justice.

Now that the last snow from December had finally (almost) melted, we got about 7 inches of fresh snow last night...

Taken while walking my dog a few hundred meters from our house:

Here is a shot I meant to put in the PCT thread, but I realized that it broke the rules regarding post processing.
The sepia tone is from iphoto. I don't know if it's a bit too much. But anyway, I'm to lazy to tone it down

And here is another one on the same theme:

This is what happens when you are too lazy to switch the big (fixed focal length) tele lens on your camera with a more appropriate lens when the animals are closer than expected ...

That is a really nice shot! I was just messing around with some black and white photography, and came up with this shot of my keyboard. Not the most exciting shot I know, but the layout of these keys caught my eye for some reason or another. Maybe it's how dirty my keyboard is, and the fact that I need to clean it?

I never realised. Kinda cool actually.
The capture is great, a classic of what we grew up with.
