26 cents profit on 2.35 billion in sales... thanks largely in part to a 134% increase in iPod sales from Q3 -> Q4. Sold 2.016 million iPods in Q4 for $536 million revenue... that's more revenue generated than any of Apple's 4 individual product lines (iMac/eMac, PM, ibook, PB).

Computer units saw a small dip across the board, but nothing too big. It would be nice to see iMac units > 300,000 next quarter, though I'd expect 250,000 minimum.

They also raised financial guidance for Q1 '05... a very good sign.

Just in from the confrence call. The HP iPod accounted for 6% iPod sales. Also they expect more itms stores in European countries by end of this month. You can listen to the call here.

EDIT: They discussed a new apple store design that we know as the apple store mini. The first one is opening this saturday.

it's gonna go down tomorrow as many will cash out. wait until all the nervous nellies (actually profit-takers) cash out tomorrow because it's going to go above 40, eventually.

Yeah what are opinions on this?

Is it worth it to sell it right away tomorrow morning and then buy at the end of the day?

if it goes down it will be temporary, the future is rosy. it will be over 40 soon just many will take profits tomorrow.

edit: i just read the report, the only reasons to sell right now are:
a) you need the cash
-or-
b) you think it's going to go down near term.

it may go down in the morning but it's going to go up between now and the next report. i will buy buy tomorrow if it goes down or stays flat.

It ...is...happening.

Actually, the increase in computer sales is good, given that Apple’s computer offerings, although overall pretty good, were still not all that they could have been in terms of product update cycles over the past year: e.g., delayed release of new iMacs, still no PowerBook G5, unforeseen delays in significant further speed improvements to the G5. I expect the bump in computer sales that Apple did experience is the beginning of the anticipated ‘iPod effect’, plus people becoming more aware of the advantages of the OS. I hope for an even bigger improvement next year with the already released new iMac and an anticipated new PowerBook. Also, the ‘iPod’ effect might be even greater over time.

I dunno how you figure that when they sold 836,000, I'd hardly call that just about 850,000 let alone just about 900,000. Considering they are only up 6% or about 50,000 macs, at this rate, next year they should come to just about 900,000 or maybe surpass it, but for now, they are pretty shy of that.

Hell has frozen over.

Apple had good financials, and the stock is *UP*, um, 12% today? Nope, 12.55% and climbing. Good lord.

Everyone knows that Apple goes *down* on good news, right?

Yea, Apple's computer sales seem to be stuck in the 750 - 850K range.

Here are some previous quarters' CPU sales figures:

1Q 2002 - 746,000 units sold ( source )
2Q 2002 - 813,000 units sold ( source )
3Q 2002 - 808,000 units sold ( source )
4Q 2002 - 734,000 units sold ( source )
1Q 2003 - 743,000 units sold ( source ) ($8Million Loss)
2Q 2003 - 711,000 units sold ( source )
3Q 2003 - 771,000 units sold ( source )
4Q 2003 - 787,000 units sold ( source ) (336,000 iPods sold )
1Q 2004 - 829,000 units sold ( source )
2Q 2004 - 749,000 units sold ( source )
3Q 2004 - 876,000 units sold ( source )

I'd go back further but I think you get the picture.
