Are the Harmon Kardon USB speakers originally supplied with the G4 Cube compatible with any machine with a USB 2.0 port? More specifically, are they compatible with the iBook G4?
Also, how do these compare to the Apple Pro Speakers which were parcelled with the iMac G4? Sound quality? Volume? I really like the way the Pro Speakers sounded, so if these Cube USB speakers are compatible with the iBook and sound like the Pro Speakers, I'd be really happy. Thanks! |

The speakers that came with the Cube will only work when plugged into USB ports on either ADC displays or the Cube itself. They draw more power than a normal USB port puts out, so they shouldn't work anywhere else. But, I see no harm in trying.

IIRC (had a cube until december) they work via a normal usb port, but are very quiet.

Ya, I have a pair of Cube speakers, and they do work with a normal USB port, but quieter. On my old iBook they sounded better than the built in speakers.
