Now that it's been confirmed at MWSF, I'm going to re-assess my purchasing decision. Which one has a better performance: The 2.1 Ghz iMac G5 or the 1.67Ghz DuoCore MacBook based on the processors alone and leaving out Graphics card and memory? I was thinking that if the iMac G5 can more than handle my needs back then, how does the MacBook compare to it? Is the MacBook good enough to be a standalone workhorse(video editing, Photoshop, Illustrator, muti-tasking)?
I was planning on waiting for MWSF to see if any changes are going to be made before purchasing. If there were no changes in the iMac, I'll just purchase it and get a Windows based laptop for basic tasks. With the MacBook, I think I'll be killing 2 birds with one stone. Desktop power and portability. |

I dont think that anyone will really know the answer to that question until the new Powerbooks start shipping.
I think it would safe to assume that it would be fine for your needs though (unless non-universal programs are slow as hell). I say wait and see. ![]() |
