I've seen a couple people on this board mention "resolution independence" when talking about the next version of OS X and making it out to be a HUGE deal. I can't seem to find a good definition for it. What is it and what makes it so great?

Please search before starting new threads. This one has been answered in detail several times. In fact, not only are there scattered posts that explain it, there's a whole thread with the words "what is resolution independence" in the title that explains it:

What is Resolution Independence and Why Should We Care?
