Yah yah this is true you know... team first. We are making nice progress as a group I must say. We'll crack the top 1000 shortly. Who knows by year end we might be top 500.

We'll make in into the top 1000 soon enough. If only I didn't have all laptops at home. However, I will be getting a new linux box for my closet in the next day or two. It won't be much of a boost, but every little bit counts, right? Last edited by autodata : 2004-10-03 at 01:26. |

Took me a bit to get that first unit up. My PB is still chomping away at a p295... my Athlon 64 comp meanwhile just finished a p854. The p295 should be done in another day or two. My PC didn't seem to like the graphical Folding client, so I switched over to the console to get it up and running. |

Crap, I just landed a p295, and it's taking 80 minutes per step. At this rate, I'll be finished in around 5 days…

I've had lots of problems with my Mac so it hasn't been working for the past day or so. It won't send units properly whether I use the command line or the graphical client. Or, it doesn't receive them. Something dumb like that. So my PC has been chugging along. It's doing a good job, I'm in the number 13 spot even with just six WUs completed. Got a bunch of 1125s worth over 200 points each.

My kids B&W has been working on a 581 for week and is 26% complete. Only 3 weeks to go for the 220 points. My G5 should complete two 582s early tomorrow after 3 days for a combined 554 points.

Heh... now I'm in the #12 spot, ahead of LoCash by 1.31 points . We should hit the top 1,000 soon. I'm also now in the top 100,000 users.

Seriously, though, the name parser probably just saw the \ as an escape character. I wonder if you could do crazy stuff to the Folding project by sticking newlines and other odd characters in your name. Naah... The quality of this board depends on the quality of the posts. How long does it take for your name to pop up after completing your first protein? I finished my first one 24 hours ago. Yes, it took me 13 days to do it.

In your logs it should have something like:
Code:
[02:56:18] - Preparing to get new work unit...
[02:56:18] + Attempting to get work packet
[02:56:18] - Connecting to assignment server
[02:56:19] - Successful: assigned to (171.67.89.152). Though this is when you get the packet - I assume it attempts to send it back to the same server. When a WU shuts down you should get something like this: Code:
[02:55:00] Completed 500000 out of 500000 steps (100)
[02:55:00] Writing final coordinates.
[02:55:01] Past main M.D. loop
[02:56:01]
[02:56:01] Finished Work Unit:
[02:56:01] - Reading up to 1025520 from "work/wudata_04.arc": Read 1025520
[02:56:01] - Reading up to 0 from "work/wudata_04.xtc": Read 0
[02:56:01] goefile size: 0
[02:56:01] logfile size: 29434
[02:56:01] Leaving Run
[02:56:05] - Writing 1063678 bytes of core data to disk...
[02:56:05] ... Done.
[02:56:05] - Shutting down core
[02:56:05]
[02:56:05] Folding@home Core Shutdown: FINISHED_UNIT
[02:56:10] CoreStatus = 64 (100)
[02:56:10] Sending work to server
[02:56:10] + Attempting to send results
[02:56:14] + Results successfully sent
[02:56:14] Thank you for your contribution to Folding@Home.
[02:56:14] + Number of Units Completed: 24 Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress |

I'm at 200 of 1000 frames completed, 3m 16s/frame - it'll be done in 1d 19h 31m. In the coming weeks, I'll be changing my set up. I should have my dual 2.5 by Thursday. That will fold 24/7 except when I need to edit audio/video. I'm also building a dedicated dual Xeon folding box to take over for my two single proc AMD machines which I need for other purposes. I've totally gotten the folding bug! I'm buying a house in the near future and when I do I'll be setting up a folding farm like this: or maybe I'll go low tech and make something out of an IKEA box like this guy did: |
