So, I think I'm going to take the plunge and get a Droid. Surprise, surprise, right?

I'm really confused about their data plans. What is the difference between "Unlimited Data Usage" ($44.99/mo) and "Email and web for Smartphone" ($29.99).

Both are "unlimited data." I believe that means 5GB/month. With the higher priced plan you can have microsoft exchange and a few other benefits. If you don't need exchange, it's not worth it IMO. I have a Blackberry from Verizon and I have the lower priced plan and have no problems at all with it. I never come close to hitting the 5GB/month allowance, but it's nice to know it's there.

I'm not sure what you do for a living, but you can often get discounts from cell providers based on what you do for a living. Ask if they have discounts for people in your line of work or for your company. I get 18% off cell service and 20% off data. It's not huge, but it's nice to save that little bit of extra money each month.

Come waste your time with me
