Do the current wired USB keyboards from apple not have additional USB ports like the old ones? I can't see on their site that they do

Even better. Do all the buttons work the same? IE will the apple key replace the windows key on a PC ?

Yes, the Windows key functionality will map to the Apple key. I don't think the volume or eject keys will do anything, though.

Why buy an apple keyboard for PC gaming? It's not even that great of a keyboard...and it's expensive...that is if it's still ($60).

Im not buying it for gaming. I am buying it for my soon to purchase mac mini, as my current PC keyboard is not USB, and the wired USB Apple one is only £19. Therefore, I will wanna use the new apple one on my PC aswell and get rid of my old keyboard.

1. It is a great keyboard.

2. It's $29 in the US.

it is a shame that the bluetooth wireless keyboards don't have USB, I don't know what the bluetooth data rate is but USB 1.1 aint that much. It is good that all ports on the iMacG5 are at the back but one thing I do miss is an easy to plug USB slot on the front say with using a memory stick that you just wanna quickly whack in there - now i have to ferret around the back (obviously this will distort the good looks is on the front of the iMac - but the keyboard USB is a good touch)

obviously i meant to say was would it be possible to transmit low rate USB 1.1 signals over bluetooth etc...

I bought one at Compusa for 29 usd. I use it for my mac mini and my PC. The usb ports are 1.1, but they work just fine on the PC too.

Umm... im pretty sure it *can* be done, but, it wouldn't be very good. Because first of all- it's USB 1.1, and secondly, whatever you stick into the port would be transferred over the air via Bluetooth so i'd imagine it would be very slow and many problems could come up from this. So yeah... So - yes, it can be done, but Apple probably wouldn't want this anyway.

I wouldn't say it's a great keyboard... I'm not that happy with mine. For some reason it hates it when I don't hit the keys dead-on. If I press them down at an angle, it kind of sticks in place. It's decent, especially if you want a smallish, compact one, but there are much better ones out there. I've heard glowing reviews of the MacAlly iceKey, but the ~$50 price has made me hesitate to purchase one. I think I will, though. Another alternative is the Kensington SlimType, which I'm going to look at now. It has fewer keys than most keyboards, though, so I'm not sure if it's right for me.

P.S. Actually, does anyone have a Kensington SlimType for Mac? Kensington's website blows goats and the largest image they have of it is 300x300. I want to see the exact key layout and I also want to see about how big it is.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it at NewEgg. They're way more competent than Kensington.

I might just get that one, Luca. I've been using the Apple keyboard that came with my Cube with my Powerbook, but my Cube might soon become the home office computer, and we'll need to have a keyboard and mouse with it.

Personally I think the iceKey is probably a better product. And it's only a little bit more expensive. It is much larger and uses the standard Apple keyboard layout, instead of using the tiny keys like that Kensington. It also has two USB ports on it.

I have the PC version of that keyboard. I don't think you'll be happy with it, as it has the same issues with key precision as your current board. The keys are laptop keys. And dust and other gunk gets into the grooves around that chrome strip really easily.

I still don't like the white keys...they get dirty way too easily...right now I use an old iMac (G3-Bondi) keyboard with the translucent black keys, so that's all good...

Any thoughts?

Windows cannot detect your keyboard. Press a key to continue.

This program has performed an illegal operation and will now be shut down. You were an idiot if you thought this wouldn't happen.
